Links

So, a couple weeks ago, I wrote about a new XML-RPC system I wrote that lets me set up links pages easily on my sites.

I’ve now got all my sites properly set up with the links client and they are working nicely. It’s a pretty cool piece of technology that I plan to play with some more later. Maybe set it to return links in a random order or something like that.

Image Hosting Changes Part II

Yesterday, I mentioned that I was doing some changes on my image hosting site, 123 Image Hosting, last night, I gave the site a nice new face lift. Much better than the previous design that it had and began getting some new features laid out that I want to add to it.

I’m planning on getting to work now to get this site up there in the search engines pretty quickly. This site gets good traffic already and I want to double that as soon as I can.

Image Hosting Changes

My site 123 Image Hosting, is one of my best traffic sites. But I haven’t really been doing anything to capitalize on it.

Last night, I decided to start taking care of that. There are two ways people can use the site, anonymously and by signing up.

I’ve been collecting registrations on there for very little purpose – I don’t send member newsletters, and I don’t upsell anything to them. While reading through SitePoint Forums I remembered a member that represented a co-registration network, Opt-Media. They pay publishers to offer subscriptions to their advertisers’ e-mail lists during registration for other services/lists.

I signed up today and my application was quickly approved. I then had to add my individual sites through their control panel, which were again quickly approved. After reading their very simple integration instructions (multiple methods available), I chose the one that seemed the best match for me, and added their co-registrations to the sites register page. It now lists checkboxes to opt-in to three mailing lists while registering for 123 Image Hosting. Of course, joining the lists is completely optional. Integration was as simple as directing the form to a URL on their server and providing some hidden form fields telling it what form on my server the data should be posted to as well. They take care of posting the registration info to both places at once and send the visitor right back to my site.

Payout is supposed to be 80%, I’ll see how that works out. Anything would be nice for the 10 minutes of work involved in integrating their service.

I also plan to start doing a watermarking thing for anonymous uploaders and start letting users customize their galleries a little more. Plus, the site will be getting a face lift very shortly with a new design added to it.

I just decided it was time to start doing something good with that site considering how much traffic it gets me.

So Much For That Plan…

Ok, so I haven’t posted much since the new shift started 14 days ago. It took some getting used to, but now I have gotten used to it.

Been busy with various scripting projects lately and also trying some new stuff.

I wrote an XML-RPC server/client system that I store all my sites in, then when I want to display links on one page, I simply call the XML-RPC client and have it return sites under the category I am in. This helps keep all my shopping sites current, as well as all my other sites current.

Also been busy on a new CMS which I’ll be using to replace the existing CMS on freekrai.net very shortly.

Basically, been busy.
